They came like cowards at 2AM into New Orleans, and started dismantling our heritage while the people were still asleep! Obama’s buddy Mitch Landrieu is a disgrace.
Big Yellow Construction LLC was hired to remove the Confederate monuments (destroy history) and has already begun bringing down the Liberty Monument. With a swarm of New Orleans Police and snipers on the rooftops of buildings around the area. The removal began at 2AM, under darkness Monday morning.
There is a widening divide among the populace of the Crescent City. This is very controversial and the force was for precautionary actions.
A group of protesters held a candlelight vigil around two of the memorials scheduled to be removed. It was then that unmarked construction vehicles or vehicles with the name of the contractor hidden by tape begin the dismantling process.
The monuments will be dismantled and stored in city-owned warehouses. It will be up to the courts and public opinion to decide what their final fate will be.
When the bright light of Monday morning shines on New Orleans and a piece of the city’s history has been removed is when you can expect the reality of the situation to become even more inflammatory. How will New Orleans react once the sun is shining on an empty piece of ground where a monument once stood? That remains to be seen.
This is a disgrace to our heritage, if these monuments that are a part of history affend you then you need to get a life ! How about we as white people rise up in protest against Martin Luther King’s statue and demand that we do not have to recognise Black heritage month ? Let’s call it what it is reverse racism! If your white you have to sit back and except what ever the government wants to cram down white people’s throats when it comes to African history ! Why don’t we have a white heritage month to celebrate our being decriminised against by other races ? Why does the government & principalities not support us as a race ? WHEN will the white population stand up and say “No More!” I would not be surprised if any and everything related to Blacks – such as statues and memorials for such as MLK suddenly explode and cease to exist! This has gone a lot further than should ever have been allowed!
Well, they won. I think it is a sad day when all the beautiful statues are removed. This “IS and HAS been” New Orleans for many years. A few people complain and down comes all representation of the South. The SOUTH is a PART of history people. Get over it!
